Great Kids Farm is built on the support and generosity of Baltimore residents. Since the fall of 2008, the Farm has received invaluable donations and in-kind contributions including goats, wagons, tools, a plow, composting worms, herb and fig cuttings, refrigerators, paint, and more!
Following is a list of items that would be particularly useful in 2010. Thank you to everyone who has made this incredible effort so successful!
- New or used farm equipment
- Kitchen items: small appliances, cookware, cooking utensils, dinnerware and flatware
- Wheel barrows: garden carts, wagons, crates - of any size
- Five gallon buckets (lids are a bonus!)
- Child-size tools, gloves, rain jackets and rain boots
- Safety glasses and gloves
- Rain jackets and rain boots (for young adults)
- Garden tools: shovels, digging forks, pick axes, sledge hammers, etc
- Shop tools: power tools, hand tools, organizational infrastructure, welding or construction equipment
- Office supplies: paper, power strips, extension cords, post-its, push pins, staplers, white out, etc
- Scissors! (child and adult)
- Garden hoses and extension cords
- Walkie-talkies
- A digital camera (or a photographer!)
- Lumber and other building materials: hardware, concrete, etc
- Folding chairs and folding tables
- Goat quality hay
- Coolers of any size, for transporting vegetables in extreme temperatures
- Coffee grounds (or other organic food and yard waste)
- Outdoor picnic tables and outdoor chairs
- Storage infrastructure: anything from plastic bags to containers and cabinets
- Library materials: DVD’s, magazines, and books on organic gardening, farming, cooking or health
- Bird houses and bat houses
If donors would like to make targeted gifts to the farm, below are some ideas of larger items that would expand our effort and also make our work more efficient.:
- A rotary spading machine to cultivate our vegetable fields without compromising the health of our soils
- Two hybrid vans, to transport students to the Farm and transport the Farm’s produce to the students
- A new or used tractor to train students in machine maintenance and operation while expanding the Farm
- A large projection screen and projector, for community events and presentations by nationally-recognized speakers
