| Great Kids Farm Tour Guide (10) |
Every week, various people (some who are VIPS) request tours of the Great Kids Farm. We are seeking a person who is extroverted, passionate about the mission of the Farm, who has good judgment and is willing to give at least a few hours a week to this effort. Work with staff to develop a standard tour. Adapt each tour to the audience. Collect information about the people on the tour, which will be recorded into the Farm's database. Also determine what next steps should be recommended to staff from the tour visit, if any. |

| Microgreen Harvester and Restaurant Liaison (8) |
Microgreen production is one of the core educational and farming enterprises at Great Kids Farm. Interested volunteers will participate in the weekly harvesting and deliver of microgreens to Baltimore City restaurant partners. Volunteers will work alongside others in this weekly harvest, which includes hand cutting young greens with scissors on top of greenhouse tables in the greenhouse, rinsing the greens and dropping them off at one or more restaurants on the way home. We aim to include older students in this work, to learn both the harvesting skills and the market and business aspects of microgreen production. |
Wednesdays, year-round, 10 am to 2 pm (deliveries to be made by car between 1-2 pm).

| Community Supported Agriculture and Restaurant Liaison (2) |
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between a farm and a household, in which the household pays the Farm in the beginning of the season and, in exchange, the Farm provides a share of each week's harvest to the member household throughout the growing season. Our CSA revenues are reinvested in the Farm's educational programs, cultivation and infrastructure to support those programs. Interested volunteers will work alongside Farm staff to harvest vegetables, herbs and flowers each week for the Farm's CSA program. Vegetables are harvested in the field (outside) rinsed and bagged for each member household. This is done every week, rain or shine during the growing season. Some farming, gardening, or food experience is helpful, but not necessary. Interested volunteers should feel comfortable working outdoors and must have a car to make deliveries of harvested food and flowers. |
Thursdays, 8 am to 12 noon; or 12- 2pm to assist with CSA deliveries.

Much care goes into raising vegetables, flowers, mushrooms, fruit, chickens, goats, honeybees, worms, compost all of the other life at Great Kids Farm. Interested volunteers can support this effort in many ways, ranging from planting seeds to cultivating the soil. Lending a Farm-hand is most enjoyable for everyone when interested volunteers participate weekly or at least regularly, so as to build their skills, rhythm and relationships with other volunteers and Farm staff. Some Farming, gardening, or food experience is helpful, but not necessary. Interested volunteers should feel comfortable working outdoors. |
Weekly, year-round, mostly on weekdays. This is a flexible and on-ongoing opportunity with new and unique roles developing seasonally.

| Small Building Projects (unlimited) |
Great Kids Farm is continually designing and building innovative, environmentally-friendly, schoolyard appropriate, educational and farming infrastructure on our grounds. Projects undertaken in 2009 include a mobile chicken coop, a model urban chicken coop, a large scale worm-based composting system, an outdoor earthen oven, an outdoor vegetable washing pavilion, a barnyard fence utilizing re-used lumber, an unheated greenhouse and more. Volunteers interested in this position should enjoy creating and building these and similar projects and have some practical experience or skills in these areas. |
This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity. Individuals may volunteer regularly or focus on specific projects. Days and times are flexible.

We are looking for an individual who can be available on a regular basis to make updates to the Great Kids Farm website using a Content Management System. The work would include changing photos, posting new videos and updating text to keep the information fresh and relevant. Possibly will include blog updating. Web experience necessary. |

| Field Trip Guide (10 – 12) |
Interested volunteers will work alongside Farm educators to offer unique experiences to visiting students from Baltimore City Schools. Field trips typically combine Farm tours with hands-on lessons and meaningful work. Field trips guides are encouraged to use their experience and knowledge of food, Farming, gardening, biology, art or other related subjects to offer visiting students a unique experience at Great Kids Farm. Interested volunteers should be comfortable working with groups of children and youth. Some teaching experience is helpful, but not required. Tours of school children come to the Great Kids Farm several times a week -- especially during growing season and during the school year. Guides will receive training. |

Interested volunteers will work alongside Farm educators to offer unique experiences to visiting students from Baltimore City Public Schools. Field trips typically combine Farm tours with hands-on lessons and meaningful work. Interested volunteers help prepare the environment for visiting students before and during their visit as an assistant to Great Kids Farm lead educator, Gloria Rosen and other volunteer guides. Interested volunteers should be comfortable working around students. Some educational experience is helpful, but not required. |
Weekdays, primarily during the school year as needed for scheduled field trips.

| Educational Materials Developer (2 – 4) |
Field trips to Great Kids Farm typically combine Farm tours with hands-on lessons and meaningful work. Interested volunteers will help conceive, refine, create and implement lessons, materials and other innovative educational tools for use by Farm staff and volunteers. Lessons developed in 2009 include: propagation from seed, mushroom cultivation, fruit tree planting, harvesting and packaging microgreens, compost building and more. Interested volunteers should have some experience with food, farming, cooking, science, art, teaching or related activities. Those volunteering in this capacity should be independently motivated, creative and interested in seeing an idea through to completion. We are especially interested in being able to link our lessons with Maryland State Curriculum content. |

| Accounting and Business Assistant (1) |
Great Kids Farm is seeking a volunteer with experience in accounting, business, and administration to help the Accounting and Business Manager with basic accounting, data entry, organizing records, and other administrative matters. Interested volunteers should be detail oriented, good at meeting deadlines and passionate about the Farm's mission. Although it will not be required, it is likely that people in this position will also have the opportunity to work with and mentor young people -- in order to teach and model good business practices for students. |

| Development and Events Assistant (3-5) |
The Great Kids Farm is involved in both fundraising for its increased operations and also hosting special events. The Farm is in search of people who have experience in foundation grant writing, organizing and implementing special events and identifying and cultivating individual donors. Volunteers would work under the supervision of the Business Manager and the Community Engagement Manager. It is helpful for the volunteer to be extroverted, detail oriented and passionate about the mission of Great Kids Farm. |
This is an on-going opportunity. Material development may be done off-Farm during times that best fit interested volunteers' schedules. We may need more of the volunteer's time before a key special event.

Our Farmers' market stands will provide a unique educational experience for interns during the summer growing season as well as a venue for selling Farm produce and educating the public about the Farm. Volunteers interested in this position will sell Farm produce and engage customers about the mission of Great Kids Farm. Interested volunteers should have some knowledge with food and enjoy talking with customers. |
Currently, Wednesdays from 8 am to 3 pm, or 10 to 2 pm, every other Wednesday, May to October, with additional opportunities developing.

Great Kids Farm supplies fresh produce to City schools' nutrition education and cooking programs. We are seeking persons who will assist nutrition and culinary educators in the classroom in various city schools. |

Great Kids Farm supports schoolyard gardens throughout the City School system with seedlings and technical advice. We are seeking people who can partner with individual schoolyard garden projects as technical consultants and mentors. Levels of commitment will vary depending on the individual school's project and level of capacity. |
