  Harvesting for the Community

Great Kids Farm produces an abundance of vegetables, fruits, eggs and honey that we sell to the public. Proceeds from these sales are plowed directly back into our farm’s education and outreach activities. Here are some ways that our harvest reaches the community.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a mutually-beneficial relationship between the farm and a household. The household buys a share of the farm’s harvest in the beginning of the season in exchange for a share of the bounty of each week’s harvest from mid-May to mid-October. Great Kids Farm offers a limited number of these harvest shares for $500 each. Members may pick up their harvest share each Thursday afternoon at the farm (in Catonsville) or at Great Kids CafĂ© on the 2nd floor of City Schools’ central office at 200 E. North Ave. In addition to fresh, nutritious food, you will benefit from a deep connection to the source of your nourishment and to a community that shares your commitment to good food and a healthy environment for all. Sign up to become a member! For more information, including a list of expected crops, please see Great Kids Farm’s CSA brochure.

Farmer’s Markets

Farmer’s markets are a great way for communities to access healthy, fresh food directly from local farmers. Great Kids Farm’s harvest is available at several markets in the Baltimore area:

  • Waverly Farmer’s Market (at 32nd and Barclay streets), Saturdays, 7 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • More locations to be announced soon

Restaurant Sales

Great Kids Farm sells micro greens and other products to several Baltimore restaurants that are committed to buying local, organic produce for their menus. We are pleased to have as our customers: Atwater’s, Woodberry Kitchen, Donna's of Charles Village and Cork's. This service is provided year-round out of our greenhouses and managed seasonally by students. Chefs from all of these restaurants are committed to sharing their passion and experience with students. For more information, or to find out how your restaurant can benefit from our harvest, please contact Farm Manager Greg Strella.
