Clothing
Students should dress appropriately for field trips to Great Kids Farm. All clothing should be suitable for activity and work, and if the weather is predicted to be cold, students should wear coats or jackets, hats and gloves. Layers are a good idea since they allow students to shed clothing as the day warms up. If the ground is wet, students to wear boots or shoes that they don’t mind getting muddy.
Chaperones
Chaperones are needed to help supervise students while engaging in farm activities. Large groups may be broken into smaller groups, and each group should have sufficient adult supervision to allow activities to run smoothly. We suggest one chaperone for every 10 students.
Allergies
We have beehives on the property. We have never had any children stung, but if there are students with bee allergies, they should make appropriate arrangements and make sure they bring their epi-pen.
Lunch
We can provide inside or outside space for groups who wish to bring and eat lunch at the farm. There are no vending machines or food sale facilities on the farm, but we do have drinking water available.
Eating Farm Food
We will sample some of the farm’s fresh produce as we tour the grounds. If teachers do not want their students to participate in this activity they should let the tour guide know in advance so that it can be avoided.
Photos
We often take photos to document field trips to the farm. If teachers don’t want their students photographed, they should let the tour guide or group leader know.
